Inspiration, April 28th

I first saw this on Pinterest but it's originally from Better Homes and Gardens. And ya know what? I love it.
I am a fan of grey walls, neutral colors can often be boring but grey adds some spice but leaves you room to accessories with bright colors. And as this picture shows, it can even go with some beautiful hard wood floors.
What I love about this room is that they've mixed calming clean colors with bright spring colors. It gives the air of sophistication and relaxation all at the same time. Parfait! I love that the wooden furniture is a pale lime green and that they chose white couches to balance it out.
Also, can we talk about the large art piece! It's large and in charge but not overpowering. The simplicity fits marvelously with the rest of the room.

Sorry for the leave of absence

Offta! Let me tell ya, taking 18 credits and working 26+ hours a week was an awful decision on my part and also the reason I haven't been posting anything lately. But the hard work is mostly done (1 week left!) and then I'm free! Well kinda... I'm taking 2 summer classes. But! I will actually have time to post about the lovely world of Interior Design.
My lovely roommate is graduating this year (lucky duck) which means that I am on my own next year and have been apartment hunting. I'm getting either a studio or an single bedroom and am VERY excited to design a place that is mine. Which also means lots of DIY and updates on my new apartment decorating. Do you know how frustrating it is to be studying interior design and not get to have your own space? Because I am beyond exited I've been going thrift shopping to find furniture. And I found a beautiful antique love seat for $40! (see below picture) I know my lady looks a little worn out but the shape of her is beautiful. With my new found sewing skills I'm going to attempt to make a slip cover myself (since I can't afford to re-upholster her). I think I'll name her Patricia. (Hey, if cars can have sexes and names so can furniture). At the same store I found a solid wood kitchen table with blue painted legs (which I'll re-do) for $50 so I'm going to be picking those two things up soon. Having a cute place does not require a lot of money and I am setting out to do that. Prepare for more apartment updates and inspiration photos and let me know if you'd like to see anything else!
