It's been a whirle wind of a week. I got to go back to my parents house last week and see the Fam Fam. Unfortunately I've been sick as a dog and was kind of a dud the whole visit. I moved into my new studio apartment on Saturday and will post pics as soon as I get it all decorated. (It's a bit hard to blog because I don't have internet at my house yet.)
Anyways, in light of me moving and every single piece of my apartment being from a thrift store I thought I'd post some inspiring furniture re-do's. Furnishing a cute space doesn't have to be expensive, it just might take a little more manual labor. Getting old furntiure with good bones is great for an inexpenisve makeover. I'm a poor POOR college student and I've managed to furnish an entire apartment for well under $200. Again, once I take pictures of the apartment I'll go over a budget. Getting cheap furniture and giving it a makeover can give your space a sense of character and look fabulous. Pinterest honestly has more tips and ideas for re-doing furniture than I could ever possibly try and come up with. But here's some pictures to help you get inspired. (All from Pinterest)
Maybe add a nice chevron stripe or paint a pattern onto an old dresser or desk?
If you are really artist try adding some interesting to an old piece of furniture (like this ship) to make that old furniture a new center piece.
New fabric or some awesome fabric paint can totally re-do an old chair.
Try a fresh coat of paint in a really bright color to spruce things up a bit. I paint my vanity (from a thrift store) in a turquoise similar to this. It looks so much better in a bright color that pops. Neutral colors aren't always the right choice for furniture. Go bold!
